Usage Consumers Saved More than $7.3 Million Using Online and Printable Coupons in May 2010

As the most highly trafficked coupon website and the only website with more than 450,000 coupons for both online and in-store discounts, RetailMeNot.com is in a unique position to track trends within the coupon industry. Retailers generated approximately $31 million in online coupon sales through RetailMeNot.com in May, more than a 42 percent increase compared to the same time last year ($22 million in 2009). In May, more than 13.6 million consumers visited RetailMeNot.com and saved $7.3 million using online and printable coupons ($6.0 million online and $1.3 million printable). Community members shared more than 30,000 coupons and submitted more than 307,000 votes and 14,500 comments on the reliability of the coupons. The top online coupon in May was for $30 off of a 5 night booking with hotels .com, and the top national printable coupon download in May was for a free entree with the purchase of an entree and two beverages from IHOP. Residents of Georgia came out on top this month as the number one state using printable coupons, while residents of New York continue to remain the most frequent users of online coupons. Food was once again the most searched category in printable coupons.
